This year, we’re honored to recognize the hard work and achievements of our 2019 Supervisor of the Year, Jorge Carrillo. Within a short 2 years, Jorge has upgraded the overall look of our products and helped define the Paper Mart standard of a leader and team member. We couldn’t be more proud to showcase him and his achievements. Read on to find out more about Jorge here!
About Jorge
What do you do at Paper Mart and how long have you been with us?
I am the Paper Mart photographer & visual media supervisor. I’ve been with Paper Mart for a little over two years.
What does your day-to-day look like?
First, I get to my emails then check in with my post production editor, Romari. I get an update on items/images that are ready to send out for web publication, then assign new images for him to work on. Then, I check in with our product coordinator/stylist, Kristin. I get updates on any new items that have come in, figure out what is priority to photograph, and have her order any items from the warehouse that we will need to shoot. Once we have the items, Kristin styles the items in the studio. We work together in the studio as she styles the product and we bounce ideas off each other to see what works best for each item. I send out sets of images to Romari to work on throughout the day as I photograph the product, and we send the completed images out to be posted up on the website.
Although it may be a pretty steady streamline of work, some days can be challenging depending on the type of product we happen to be working with. Some items need different lighting techniques and/or more detailed editing. Also, prioritized items may change at any minute and new items can pop in at any time of day so we are always ready to switch to a new game plan.
What’s your favorite Paper Mart memory?
I got the chance to revamp the Paper Mart Photo Studio and now I work in the studio more than I do in my office.
It was very exciting to put together and order all of those upgrades!
What’s your favorite Paper Mart product and why do you love it?
There are so many interesting products I have handled and it’s hard to pick just one, so I’ll name a couple of my favorites. I really like our wine wooden boxes because they’re simple and classic but elegant. I also love the metallic film sheets because they were a bit challenging to photograph but the web photos turned out great.
How do you wrap presents? Gift Bag + Tissue Paper
Apart from Paper Mart, what projects or hobbies do you like to do?
I still enjoy photographing outside of work, I just shoot different things. When I’m not shooting product for work, I shoot people for fun. I’d have to say one of my favorite hobbies is film photography. I love shooting and working with film. I have a pretty cool collection of analog cameras and just enjoy the entire process of film photography. Also, music. Anything and everything that has to do with music. Music = Life.
Describe your perfect day!
It depends. My perfect day could be sleeping on a caturday morning and just hanging at home with my cat and girlfriend. It could be coffee and breakfast at 2 pm or wine and movies ‘till 2 am.
Or it could be going to a rad concert and staying out all night tearing up the streets of Hollyweird. It all depends on the day!
Are you a movie or music buff? What are you currently watching or listening to?
I’m definitely a music kind of guy. I’m not currently listening to anything in specific, my playlist changes throughout the day, everyday. I don’t know how I’d survive without music.
I enjoy listening to a wide variety of genres, from jazz to blues to classical, rock n’ roll, psychedelic rock, old-school country, metal, punk, goth rock, grunge, etc.

I met this beautiful man when he was in high school. I worked on his guitars and jammed with him an my daughter. All hes has been through I’m so glad hes alive and making a difference for this world. His friend my daughter had to go to God 3 yrs ago. You have a wonderful loyal employee. Thank you for supporting him and believing in him at his time of application.
