For this week’s employee spotlight, we are excited to introduce Maria Rodriguez. As a PickMod Lead in our warehouse, Maria has been part of our Paper Mart family for almost 6 years. She was also voted 2017 Employee of the Year by her peers. Keep reading to learn more about her love of music and typical work day here at Paper Mart!
About Maria
What do you do at Paper Mart? I’m a PickMod Lead in the warehouse.
How long have you worked here? Almost 6 years.
Tell us what a typical day at work for you entails. When I come in, I check if there is any work left from the previous day and make sure that gets done. After that, assign staff work for the day, answer emails, induct the work throughout the day. I also need to make sure we get as much work done as we can and help staff with any questions they have and make sure they are working to accomplish that goal.
What do you like best about working at Paper Mart? I like being able to help employees when they need help and working with everyone to accomplish getting orders out to our customers.
Before Paper Mart, what was the most unusual/interesting job you had? Not sure if it was interesting, but I worked at “Boot Barn,” an all country apparel shop and “StyleMart” which covered everything that had to do with eyeglasses.
Apart from your work at Paper Mart, what are some side projects or hobbies you have outside of the office/warehouse? I love music, so I do a lot of listening to music. I like to dance and watch TV. I watch everything on TV.
If you had to eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be? I do not have one type, but anything that my mom makes I could eat.
Would you rather go back in time or in the future? Why? I would love to go back in time to spend more time with my loved ones that have passed away. And to go back to when I was young and life was simpler and carefree with my family.
Describe what you were like at age 10. At age 10 I was a very active girl who was always outside playing with friends and cousins. A girl who loved music and to dance! I always pictured myself as a back-up dancer.
What is the first concert you attended? My first concert was a Bruno Mars concert in Oceanside and I loved the energy and music. We were all dancing and singing.
What’s your all-time favorite TV show? I don’t have one favorite but I loved watching “Martin” and “Full House.”
