Gift Boxes – Making Life More Enjoyable

I don’t know about you but I can remember gift boxes from when I was a kid. My mother used to say after I opened my presents on Christmas morning that she could have saved a lot of money by just giving me an empty box to play with. Gift boxes like any cardboard boxes can be a joy for people who have a great imagination.

What they used to be

Back in the day, gift boxes were the plain white boxes that you got when you purchased something at the department store for a Christmas present. Other than that, they were plain cardboard boxes that you put your gift in and then use wrapping paper to wrap the plain white box.

Evolution

Throughout the years, like everything else in this world, gift boxes have evolved. Now you can find them all over the place and you can find them throughout the entire year. They come in all sizes and shapes. You can find them plain or decorated. You can also find them made from things other than cardboard. In fact, you can find them made out of just about anything if you are willing to really look. Now, the gift boxes that you get can be saved for keepsakes or anything else because they are versatile and can be reused.

Perfection

The thing about gift boxes is in the perfection of the moment. When you receive a gift there is that joy when you first get it in your hands. That changes to anticipation when you are about to open it which leads to the perfection of the moment when you are opening it, but still haven’t opened it enough to see what is inside. You are teetering on the edge between anticipation and fulfillment. Moments like that should be treasured because they do not come along to often. You can always find one of those moments when you receive a gift box though.

Even better

The perfection of that moment can be eclipsed. You can do that simply by getting a gift box and filling it with surprises for someone else. When you give it to them and then watch them experience that moment and then see the smile on their face when they finally get the gift box open to see what it has inside is even better than experiencing it yourself. It is this way because you will know that you brought a bit of sunshine into someone else’s life.

    Hello,
I am looking for well made gift boxes. How can I tell that the box is sturdy, is there a box weight? and the paper wrap is perfect?
I had an order from an ebay store and they were cheap, bubbling paper, and glue not holding.
    Any guidance will help,
    Thanks

I am trying to decide how to most attractively package sets of wine charms, I realize you don’t have any such specific pkg. identified on your website, but I saw some cylinder containers and wonder if you think they would work. I saw two paper ones and I liked the clear one with the gold ring. What do you think? I think as long as they would be dried off when put away the charms might be in a good container to put in a kitchen or dinning room cabinet. What do you recommend?

      Hello, M. Carwin.

Thank you for reaching out to us. If cylinder containers are something you are interested in, I think you should definitely consider using them. As long as you believe the charms will fit in one of the sizes we have available, I do not see why you couldn’t move forward with your plan. Here are a couple things to consider when choosing between the plastic cylinder containers and the cardboard cylinder containers: 1) the plastic should hold up a little better in the chance that the charms are still damp when put away 2) if you choose cardboard, they should hide dirt and finger prints a little better than the plastic would 3) lastly, it all depends on the presentation you would like for the charms, the see-through plastic can be alluring, but the vibrant color of the solid cardboard can be classy. If you would like a couple of other ideas for packaging, you may want to consider our clear top cardboard boxes (http://www.papermart.com/clear-top-cardboard-boxes/id=38230-INDEX). They can be lined with satin or filled with nice shred, which will help to keep the charms protected. Another option you may like is our slide open boxes (http://www.papermart.com/slide-open-boxes/id=16267), which might be handy if people are putting them in their cabinets. If you have any other questions, or would like more advice, please feel free to call customer service at (800)745-8800 M-F 6am – 5:30pm PST.
      Thank you,
      Courtney at Paper Mart
