Tulle is a fun, easy, and inexpensive project that you can complete in just a couple of hours. Tulle tutus are perfect for pretend-play, Halloween, and birthday parties. With just a few materials, you can create a beautiful tutu that can be customized to your child’s liking. Here is an easy photo-tutorial on how to make a tutu out of tulle.

6″ Tulle rolls – as many colors as you would like 1 ½” Satin Ribbon |

Instructions: | ||
1. Measure the waist of the child and cut a piece of ribbon that is 24 inches in addition to the waist size. So if your child’s waist size is 22″, you will need a ribbon that is 46″ length (22″+24″ = 46″).
2. Tie two knots on the ribbon, leaving a 12″ tail on each side.

3. Decide how long you want the length of the tutu to be. Multiply that number by 2 and add an inch. For example, I wanted my tutu to be 10″ long so I cut pieces of tulle that are 21″ long (10″ x 2 = 20″ + 1″ = 21″).
4. Take one piece of tulle and fold it in half. Then loop the folded tulle around the ribbon and tie a knot.

5. Alternate the colors of the tulle pieces to your liking. Your tulle pieces should go between the two knots on the ribbon from step 2.

6. Once that section of the ribbon is covered with tulle, take the two ends of the ribbon and wrap it around the child’s waist and tie a bow. ![]() ![]() |
