A Little Bit About PlayMakers & Co
Your toy and activity curation is great. I feel like it’s so important for little ones to explore and play. In your words, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your business? How did you get inspired to start?
PM&C: I’m a Midwest girl living in the Pacific Northwest raising three boys (ages 2,4, and 6 years old). I’m fortunate enough to have a husband who is able to work and allow me to stay at home to raise my littles. Before children, I taught elementary school and loved every minute. With my background in education and having kiddos of my own, PlayMakers & Co was eventfully born.
While pregnant with my second child, I needed a go-to independent, purposeful activity for my then two and a half year old. Homemade playdough, figurines, and safe loose parts fit the bill perfectly.
Not only did it hold his attention, but I knew the benefits of sensory play long term from working fine motor skills to improving language skills and everything in between.
He loved the kits so much that I started giving them as gifts. A friend convinced me I needed to make it into a little business, and here I am almost 3 years later, continuing to create purposeful play for busy families (or moms who just want to drink their morning beverage while it’s still hot!).

Love this! What are your thoughts on the importance of shopping family owned and local?
PM&C: As I’ve gotten older, the pull to shop small has multiplied. Knowing I’m supporting someone’s little (or big) dream is always heartwarming. The thought of the smile, happy dance, etc. that the business/family feels every time an order comes through makes it that much better. Now that I myself am a small business owner, it means even more.
How did you hear about Paper Mart, how long have you been a customer with us, and what keeps you coming back?
PM&C: I found Paper Mart through one of my most favorite family owned small businesses, McCoy Kids (@shopmccoykids). While troubleshooting packaging ideas she sent me a link your way (https://www.papermart.com/) and I’ve been coming back ever since! From metal tins to rice paper bags – as I evolve, change, and grow, product needs change and Paper Mart always has what I need.
What are your favorite Paper Mart products and why do you love them?
PM&C: My most favorite is probably your rice paper bags. They’re reusable and eco-friendly. I’m all about things with multipurpose & trying to make things easy for parents but also easy on the earth. They’re perfect for playdough, rice, and everything in-between!
