Looking for a creative way to package a succulent plant to someone special? We’ve got you covered with this easy-to-make living gift package! Here’s how we did it.

The Prettiest Packaging Trend: Living Gifts
A wonderful way to create a special gift package is by gifting low-maintenance greenery like succulents. To help showcase the beauty of these desert flowers, we accented them with natural materials like jute fabrics, paper gift tags, and fiber bags.
FYI: For more ways to incorporate fiber bags into your packaging, take a peek at how Martha Stewart styles her sinamay mesh bags for May Day here!
Here’s What You’ll Need To Create A Pretty Wrapped Succulent
- Sinamay Fiber Drawstring Bags
- Unstrung Merchandise Tags
- 9” Natural Jute Fabric Ribbon
- Twine
- Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
- Scissors
- Measuring Tape
- Your Favorite Potted Succulents (Our succulents are potted in a 4” planter)
Here’s How To Put Your Succulent Gift Together

First, Prep & Trim Your Succulent Pot
Use your tape measure to get the exact circumference of your pot, add 1” and trim your jute fabric ribbon accordingly. Next, wrap your jute fabric ribbon around your potted plant and trim off the top as needed. Our plant pot was just a little bit shorter than our fabric ribbon so we trimmed a little off the top for a rustic, frayed look.
Next, Add Your Bow
After your ribbon has been trimmed, secure the loose ribbon edges to your pot using hot glue. Next, wrap your twine around the center of your pot and finish with a simple boutique bow.
Finally, Finish With Flair
Once your bow has been added, place the pot into the center of your sinamay bag, pull the drawstrings closed, and add a personalized “Thank You!” tag.
