5 Fun DIY Projects with Crepe Paper

Flowers

Whether incorporated into a wedding centerpiece or your springtime decor, crepe paper flowers are elegant and visually striking. To give your flowers some much-needed structure, opt for thicker paper that won’t wilt as easily. You can ensure that your floral creations — whether a single rose or a bundle of tulips — don’t look flimsy by using durable floral stem wire.

Bunting

Bunting adds a pop of color to festivities large or small. Choose crepe paper that comes in a variety of colors so that you can keep crafts on-theme for the event, from Fourth of July BBQs to baby showers. Use eye-catching, multicolored baker’s twine to string crepe paper together and hang from the wall, banisters, or windows.

Crowns

Bring the little ones in on the crafting fun with crepe paper crowns. Using floral wire as a base, you can easily stitch pieces of crepe paper together to make a headpiece fit for royalty. If you’d rather not go for floral wire, opt for heavy-duty crepe paper, cut it into the shape of a crown, and seal the deal with washi tape. You can even add some braided cord to give the Royal Family a run for their money.

Pom Poms

Heading to a sporting event or have a cheerleader-in-training at home? With crepe paper pom poms, you can make rooting for the home team fun, colorful, and affordable. Select crepe paper in your team’s colors and bundle it together. On one end, let the crepe paper hang, and on the other, use washi tape to create a handle  — just make sure there’s enough grip for small hands!
